Eat Steak for Your Health

I've always thought steak salad to be a ridiculous menu item. As though a few leaves of lettuce can hide the fact that you're eating half a pound of beef. (Or more!) "The doctor said I should stick to salads, honey, and this says salad right here!"

On the other hand, if you're going into it with eyes open and motives pure, the combination of flavours can be, well, scrumptious. I mean, look at that: cucumber, radish, lettuce, mint, giant spring onions, carrots, tomatoes, shallot, garlic, chilli, peanuts, and a beautiful sirloin steak. That's a lot going on, but high risk leads to high rewards!

Steak salad does also have this going for it: it's crazy easy. It is after all just a steak and a salad. Season steak...

...cook steak...

...and make a salad. Obviously there was a great deal of chopping involved, but we can gloss over that. It's quite boring.

All good salads need a dressing, they say. Otherwise they'd be healthy. Luckily this one is more of a flavourful marinade than an oil-based goo. Garlic and chilli and lime juice and palm sugar and delicious.

Dress that salad!

Toasted peanuts add crunch and just a hint of smoke to the finished product. And for the record, the finished product is delicious.

I belive steak salad just got a new fan. (And check out that beef! A perfect medium rare, if I do say so myself. Well, maybe a little rarer than that, but still. Not raw!)
